On March 27th, 1999 F-117A #82-806 became the first combat loss of a F-117A. Earlier that evening on the 4th night of Operation Allied Force, an unknown pilot assigned to the 8th FS took off from Aviano Air BAse, Italy using the calsign "Vega 31". This is one of the most sensational stories to come from Operation Allied Force.
